Apply the 6 method-selection criteria in order: research objective, project stage, data type, practical constraints, participant access, and context. Create an actionable research plan.2-2.5 hours
04Discovery Methods: Discover and ExploreRun secondary research (desk research) and ethnographic and contextual interviews. Apply contextual inquiry to observe real behavior, not reported behavior. Model with personas, scenarios, empathy maps, journey maps and task analysis. Structure information with card sorting and tree testing.2 hours
05Evaluation Methods (Test): Evaluating SolutionsConduct usability tests with a think-aloud protocol, designing goal-based tasks. Evaluate an interface using Nielsen's 10 heuristics, documenting severity and recommendations. Factor in accessibility and inclusion with a Latin American lens.2-2.5 hours
06Listen and Measure (Listen): Quantitative ResearchDecide when to use surveys versus interviews. Design survey questions that minimize cognitive and cultural bias. Understand A/B testing, heatmaps and conversion funnels. Combine qualitative and quantitative methods (mixed methods).2-2.5 hours
07Closing the Loop: Analysis, Synthesis and CommunicationAnalyze qualitative data with thematic analysis: coding, grouping into themes and recognizing saturation. Synthesize findings into actionable insights, distinguishing observation, interpretation and implication. Communicate and prioritize findings with storytelling, avoiding the reports cemetery.2-2.5 hours
